We met Veronica Prentice quite by chance one lunch time in June 2005 during a house hunting trip in Mirepoix in the South of France. Within 20 minutes we were viewing the house, which we later bought, about five minutes from the town.

One of my first questions was “will you still be able to help us when we have bought the house”. We were reassured by the reply.
Since then Veronica has organised or introduced us to many people all of whom are part of a necessary network or infrastructure when owning (buying and renovating) a house in France. These included an English speaking Notaire, a Surveyor, an Architect, the Building Project Manager, the House Keepers who play such an important part, a Forestier and the list goes on.

In other words Veronica has, one way or another, put us in touch with just about everyone who we needed in connection with buying and renovating our house in this beautiful part of the South of France.

We would have been floundering without all this help and support from Veronica, we would have made mistakes and no doubt would have had troubles with the renovation works.

We still keep in touch and it is very reassuring to know that we can contact Veronica if there are household/property topics we need to discuss or need advice about.

The Region

We cover an area spanning a 30km radius of Mirepoix. The region offers good access via Toulouse or Carcassonne airports, and should you wish to bring your car for the summer you can load it onto the motor-rail at Calais and wake up next morning in Toulouse having driven not one kilometre during the night!

Allowing you to spread your wings still further from the Midi Pyrenees, there is an SNCF rail service from Foix which connects with Spain in one direction and Toulouse (allowing access to the whole of France) in the other.

Owing to our geographical location ‘on the border’ so to speak, we have properties in both the Ariege (09) and the Aude (11). This gives you a huge choice of landscapes and microclimates possibly unmatched in France.

For ease of reference and so that you can orientate yourself I shall separate our area into the sectors north, south, east and west of Mirepoix as these regions are all very different. Finally there is also a page covering the climatic variation one finds between those areas.
